8oz self raising flour
6oz margarine or butter
6oz granulated sugar
1 egg – beaten
2 large cooking apples (Dorset Bramley if you can get them….), peeled and chopped into 1 inch cubes
3 tlbsp brown sugar
Rub flour and butter together in a bowl to form a rough crumble, add sugar,add apple, mix in egg. Its a very dry, crumbly mixture. Tip into an 8inch spring form greased pan. Bake in a 140c oven for 45 minutes.
